Free Cards are issued to…

  • Residents of Essex
  • Persons aged 5 and over are entitled to a card in their individual name.
  • Summer residents with proper identification and a valid permanent address
  • By signing the registration form and receiving the library card, you are agreeing to obey all rules, take good care of all materials borrowed, pay all fines or damages accrued, and to give prompt notice of change in address, telephone number, or email address.

What’s my PIN?

When you use your library card online, you will be asked for your PIN. You were assigned one when you got your card. It should be the last four numbers of your phone number.

If you have a card with us but have lost it, you will need to show

a picture ID. It will cost $1.00 to replace your card. If your card is lost or stolen, notify our Circulation Department immediately to prevent unauthorized borrowing.
